The Faculty of Law at CUHK is Hong Kong’s newest Law Faculty, and is rapidly establishing itself as a major centre of legal education and research in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of its planned expansion, the Faculty invites applications for a range of posts. Appointments are available at all professoriate levels (Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor) and as Research Assistant Professor or Professional Consultant. Candidates for professoriate appointment will be expected to contribute to the Faculty’s successful teaching programmes and to the development of its research profile. Applicants for the post of Research Assistant Professor should have a relevant doctoral degree and postdoctoral research experience. Applicants interested in appointment as Professional Consultant should have substantial professional experience. Applications for appointment on a full-time or fractional-time basis are welcomed. Appointment(s) will normally be made on a contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. (Substantiation is not available for Research Assistant Professors or Professional Consultants.) Applications will be accepted until the Faculty is satisfied that all posts have been appropriately filled. However, early application (by mid-February 2012) is encouraged.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, a contract-end gratuity for appointments of two years or longer, and housing benefits for eligible appointees.
[Annual salary ranges: for Professor: from HK$1,014,840 to HK$1,333,620 or above; for Associate Professor: from HK$803,520 to HK$1,024,740; for Assistant Professor: from HK$614,820 to HK$803,520; for Research Assistant Professor: from HK$447,720 to HK$641,580; for Professional Consultant: from HK$447,720 to HK$1,024,740 (approximate exchange rates in January 2012 for reference : GBP1 = HK$11.9; US$1 = HK$7.8; AU$1 = HK$8.1)]
